The ministry is mandated to develop and implement policies, objectives and strategies for development of agricultural sector in the areas of Food Security, Agriculture, Forestry, Rural development and Cooperatives in South Sudan. It also plays the role of promoting productivity of agriculture and forestry for economic growth and development of South Sudan. The Ministry is also mandated to promote and enhance the formation of cooperative societies and community-based organizations as vehicles of community empowerment and poverty eradication.
