Undersecretary for Cooperatives and Rural Development

Hon. Mathew Gordon Udo Musa attended Rumbek Secondary School between 1977 and 1979, before joining Gezira University in Sudan where he obtained an Honors Degree in Agriculture Sciences. He holds an MSc. in Agriculture Sciences from the Sokoine Agriculture University in Morogoro, Tanzania.

As a trained agricultural scientist, he joined the University of Juba as a teaching assistant in 1989 and eventually became a fully lecturer in 2002 and went on to become an Assistant Professor at the same university. He was also a visiting lecturer of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Bahr El Gazelle between 1998 and 2002. Hon. Udo was appointed in 2007 as the minister of Agriculture, Animal Resources and Forestry – Western Equatoria State (WES).  This was followed by his appointment as the Undersecretary of Cooperatives and Rural Development between 2011 to 2016.

Hon. Mathew Gordon Udo is the incumbent Undersecretary for Cooperatives and Rural Development at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS). He is passionate about transforming agriculture production and food security through cooperatives development.
