The Deputy Minister

Hon. Lily Albino Akol holds an MA in corporate and organizational communication at the Farleigh Dickenson University, New Jersey and a BA in French and English Language from the University of Khartoum.

She was Assistant Professor at the University of Juba before joining active politics and serving as the National Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Tourism from 2013-2016. Hon. Lily also served as a Member of the South Sudan National Dialogue Steering Committee.

She is the incumbent Deputy Minister for Agriculture and Food Security, a position she has held since 2018 under the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) docket under the Transitional Government of National Unity (R-TGoNU) following the signing of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan.

Hon. Lily Albino Akol is passionate about the revamping of the national agriculture schemes to contribute to South Sudan’s food security and economic development. She is currently championing the revitalization of all the national schemes including Aweil Rice Scheme, Renk National Scheme and all the other 14 schemes across the country.
